Team Champions
A group of members of the Sussex Deaf Karting Club, who were inspired by the presence of the European Deaf Karting Championship (EDKC), formed the England Deaf Karting Team in 2004.
The original aim of the Sussex Deaf Karting Club was simply to enable deaf people to have fun in Go-Karting.
Since joining the EDKC, we have established a growing number of keen drivers. At the end of last season, we now have over 150 members.
Although originally established as a creational club, since 2005, the England Deaf Karting Open was set up for deaf people from all over the UK and Ireland to enter our national competition.
It is from these competitions and our trials that we select and establish the drivers for our team on the International stage.
As well as developing the team, our team members have become more active in other National competitions such as the Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Ireland Deaf Karting Opens.
Our team have gone from strength to strength cumulating in our first ever European Championship win in 2011
